Conversation with Harvard Men's Basketball Coach, TOmmy Amaker
The Harvard Clubs of the Great Lakes are excited to be joined by Coach Tommy Amaker, Harvard’s Thomas G. Stemberg ’71 Family Endowed Head Coach for Men’s Basketball.
In the 13 seasons since taking over as head coach of Harvard’s men’s basketball program, Tommy Amaker has reinvented the Crimson into an Ivy League power with a national presence. He has directed Harvard to a period of unprecedented success in the form of seven Ivy League championships (2011-15, 2018-19), four NCAA tournament appearances (2012-15) and seven 20-win seasons (2010-15, 2020). Amaker is the all-time winningest coach with the Crimson, and is also the former head coach at the University of Michigan.
Equally impressive is Coach Amaker’s work to promote athlete activism and leadership among his players. Coach Amaker’s goal as a coach is to develop “ballers and scholars,” and his motto as a coach is "Teach. Lead. Serve."
We hope you can join us for our conversation on Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 EST. Coach Amaker will offer remarks about his coaching philosophy and experience at Harvard, followed by Q&A.
