About Us
We are a Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Club based in Detroit, Michigan, dedicated to serving the alumni, parents, and students of Harvard University who live in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and eastern Michigan. Our club sponsors social, cultural, and educational events, interviews applicants to Harvard College from eastern Michigan, and supports community and public service projects. There are many opportunities to get involved.
Our Club depends upon the support of the local Harvard community. As a volunteer alumni organization, we receive no financial assistance from the University. Since we are a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization, your dues and donations to our educational and scholarship funds are tax-deductible.
From the President...
An aspirational symbol, Harvard was founded in 1636, and as the oldest American university, it is part of the foundation of the United States. It has evolved with enlightenment synonymous to our great country, becoming a prominent university for the world. The outreach and dedication to excellence in education is vast, and Michigan is proud to be the home of our Harvard Club of Detroit.
Our club has a network of thousands of alumni in the region, which encompasses Ann Arbor to eastern Michigan, extending to both Windsor and Toledo. The Harvard Club of Detroit (HCD) has been host to Governors, Harvard & U of M Presidents, along with prominent business leaders, professors, and musicians. We come together in a collaborative effort to embolden the state we love.
And just what does Michigan offer? Nearly a quarter of the world's surface fresh water is in our Great Lakes. It is home to Mackinac Island, one of the top ten in the world. Ostensibly, Detroit is the Motor City and origin of R&B. Dig deeper and uncover even more magic: Gritty sports teams reside here - a testament to tenacity, akin to our residents. There is a renewal of vibrancy in our region, alive in our entrepreneurial spirit, technology and real estate development. From an economic standpoint we have gained the immense value of renewal, opening the door to numerous possibilities and competitive advantage. It is an invigorating time.
As a Detroit native, it is an honor to serve as your President in 2025. My Father immigrated from Italy with only hope. He instilled in me the virtue of hard work and a relentless spirit. Education is critical in a path to betterment. Part of our mission is to support new or aspiring Harvard students who strive for excellence and a chance to improve their socioeconomic outcome. Your membership can ensure this happens. As alumni, we were fortunate to experience the growth and life-changing adventure of our Cambridge education. We benefit from the sincere friendships and critical business connections. Let us support more metro Detroit students in their goal to achieve.
My recipe for happiness is simple: wake up each day thankful, help as many people as possible, and smile often. A commitment to giving is integral to the Club mission. HCD has embraced the joy of community service, and we continue to support a variety of local charities. Our volunteer efforts, leadership, and contributions help create stronger, healthier places in Michigan to work and live.
Our dynamic club is revitalized and growing. Appropriately nonpartisan, we welcome all viewpoints and open discussion. It has been a great privilege to exchange ideas and gain insight from varied perspectives of fellow alumni. Join us and be an active catalyst to the vitality in Michigan. We can unite as partners in the shared experience of life, and as caretakers of our world. Together we will find ways to utilize our knowledge for beneficial purpose. I cannot think of a greater benefit, as ultimately, this connection will help sustain our humanity. I wish all of you good health and successful endeavors!
Much Appreciation,
Linda Dudaryk
President
